MR. FANTHAMS SHORTHORNS.
Mr. Faxtiiam has up to the present season been anything but fortunate in regard to his valuable herd of pure-bred shorthorns. This season however good fortune sooms to have attended his efforts. Not many weeks ago we announced the addition of three calves to his herd, and now it is our pleasing duty to notify the occurencc to two more such events. On the 14th inst. , the cow Queen Elizabeth calved a beautiful roan heifer to Lord Darlington, and on the 10th Mo*s Xo B e produced a splendid white bull calf, also by Lord Darlington. The heifer calf which will be known by the name of Queen Bee, is marked precisely similar to her father, and must turn out to be a very valuable animal. Anyone pnying a visit to Mr Fanthams would be a^toni-lved at the improvement which has taken plane in the bull Sir Hercules, purchased from Maclean and Co. In February last, the bull in passing up from Auckland was very much admired, but they who saw him then would scarcely recognise him now. So much has he grown. It is the opinion of men competent to judge that a better bull of his acre could not be found in the colony, Waikato has reason to be proud of such a possession.
