StR, -"I see by 'advertisement that ,the Mangapiko Highway Board are going to take action again towards closing the road which rnni throngh Mr Bosankoes land, ' although it, was rejected /by /the ]VVajpa County Council last month, and the $ivlie Works Aqt, 1876, ,saysjno action shall be. taken, for two} years ; but then I presume they have jnade a Highway Aot of their own., I do not see, why they should ' not when the public Act wqn't read right for them. Xheir ,ple»: ! for bringing up the road for re-considera-tion is that the Government reserve does not front onto it as stated. , That was not the principal reason that I objected to the road being closed, but that it is th& best road in the district leading, to the natfivfr country, which, m proved by the fact that the Government had to- put a block-house there to stpp the natives from using it in the time ot war, and it was used in the old missionary days. They carted their wheat down this road to ship it in" canoes for Waiuku. Mr Bosanko got an education reserve in exchange for the top of the hill where the block*house stands, and now if he can fit the roadi closed he will have both, hat is coming the " Oliver Twist " style ■—is it not, Mr Editor ?— I am, &c, George Harper.
