Adelaide, September 4. The Orient Company's steamship Sorata, which arrived yesterday from Plymouth and left during the day for Melbourne, struck on a reef a mile from Cape Jervis, Kangaroo Island, at the entrant* of Gulf St. Vincent. All the passengers were landed safely on the island. The vessel is in a critical condition : the f orehold is fall of water, the engine-rooms are filling, and the fires are out.
Last Night. It is feared that the Sorata's position is hopeless, and that she is certain to become a total wreck. It is believed that she has a large quantity of exhibits on board for the Melbourne Exhibition.
