CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Board was held on Tuesday eveniug" at 8 o'clock. Present: Messrs J.P. Campbell (chairman), Wells, Johnhtono, Kirk wood, iud Pearson. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read, The Chairman reported that the "Ranging Committee had appointed Mr Frank Hosking as luuger at tho s'uno piiotr as last year, viz., 1-5 per cent, on tho amount realised on depasturing and Is per head on impounding^. Letters were read from Mr Hot-king 1 in reference to draining Kirk wood-street ; also one from Mr Peck, re footpath, the terms of which letter were agreed to ; another from Mr G. E. Chrk, re/arding the exten^on of lUOft. to his wharf store, which was granted iv terms of his lease without extra char-goa, Resolved tint the Chairman and Mr Pearson be appointed to consult with Mr Hosking, fjnd get him to prepare plans and estimates for the improvement of Victoria and Lower Lake -streets, at a cost not exceeding £100. It was also resolved that Mr Well* and the Secretary examine the rate roll of defaulters ?^nd select a number to be sued for, tho names or numbers to bo handed over to the Board's solicitors for recovery. Several accounts were then passed, when a requisition to the Chairman, signed by a large number of ratepayers, in reference the Local Election^ Act, was laid before the meeting, and it was resolved that a meeting of ratepayers be called for Saturday, 11th September, at 4 p.m., the same to be advertised in the Waikato Times. The next meeting of tho Board will be held qn Tuesday, 14th September, at 7 p.m., instead of 8 p,m, as hitherto. Future meetings of the Board will be held at the same hour.
