Advance of the British Troops. Calcutta, August 4.

Orders have been given to General Roberts to inarch with the Northern division of the British army in Afghanistan, numbering 10,000 men, to the relief of General Burrows at Kandahar, Gen. Roberts has further been ordered to act in conjunction with the troops under General Phayre and Sandeman irom the Bolau Pas-, so that the combined forces may operate against Ayoub Kqan. : It now transpires that the tolegraph lino between Cabul and the frontier wt'S not cut by hostile tribes as at first supposnd, but was interrupted from some other cau>se. Intelligence has been received from Afghanibtan that Ayoub Khan has advanced o Murghaze for the purpose of attacking the British troops under General Phayre, "which had reached Chaminan Chouki recently from the BoLm pass, on the way to reintorce General Burrows at Kandahar, and were unable to proceed owing to the disturbed state of the couutry. It is further stated that Ayoub Khan is sending a strong foice to intercept supplies from the Bolan Pass.
