HARAPEPE.

The annual meeting of the ratepayers of 1-he Pirongia Highway District wjTheld in the School-house, Harapepe, on Satuxclay last, the 24th, at 2 p.m. (that was the -time advertised, but it was a great deal later than that before a sufficient number of ratepayers could be got . together to make up a legal meeting). Mr McMinn was chairman of the meeting. Mr James Sherett, tieasurer, read over the statement of the receipts and expenditure for the past yeai', which were duly approved of and passed. The meeting proceeded to elect the new Board for the ensuing yenr. The following ratepayers were elected trustees: — Mebsrs. J. Hodgeson, W. Jordan, J. McGuirk, E. Gr. McMinn, ; James Sherrett, Treasurer and Collector ; Fenceviewers, H. Southy, 'and D. Finlayson, jnr.; Auditors, A. S. Sherrotfc, and D. Rollo. This was- the whole of the business of the meeting. The To Rore punt still continues in a most deplorable state, the punt is up on the bank of the river instead of being in, the river, and the wire rope is broken, and nothing is being- done, I hear, till the Waipa County Council meet on the 10th of August, a matter of about a fortnights time. In the mean time, the stoppage of the publics traffic is not of the slightest consequence to that august body, a state of affairs that never was the case while the feuy was under the management of the local Board. We have been having some very heavy rain during the past week.
