HAMILTON WEST SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
TO THK EDITOR. g IBj — in your last issue I observe a resume 1 of a Committee meeting's proceedings in which it is stated " That Mr Knox reported that the out-offices were in a very bad state, and that it was resolved to draw the attention of the teacher to the matter, with a request that he should see the matter remedied." I J am iaformed by a member of the Committee that you have given a wrong interpretation to that portion of the proceedings. I would, therefore, request you to explain the matter, as I had written to the Chairman on the 3rd inst , re the school cleaning, when I stated that the seats of school offices required washing periodically. Havkg spoken to both Messrs Knox and Gwynne on the subject, and urged the necessity of having the matter attended to long before the meeting, I failed to see how the matter could be brought up in the way you represent. I beg most respectfully to inform all concerned that I am quite clear as to the duties devolving upon me in respect of looking after the school buildings. — I am, &c, J. M. Murray. [Our reporter assures us that the reort of the School Committee proceedings b absolutely correct.-^E&.J
