DEATH FROM EXCESSIVE DRINKING.

At an early hour on Tuesday the rumor that Mr A. G. Grant, auctioneer, formerly a memher of the well-known firm of Grant and Morton, had died suddenly, obtained circulation in Anckiand. The circumstances under which the deceased was fonnd were duly reported to the police, and the body was removed to the morgue. Mr Grant Las been an old resident in the colony It was during the "Waikato war that he fuvt made the acquaintance ot his lafo partner, JMr Morton, who was then connected with Commissariat Department. After the close of the war they entered into partnership, and cinied on business as auctioneers and commission agents in Auckland. At an inquest on the body, held yesterday afternoon, a verdict of " died from excessive dunking"," was returned.
