I observed iv the Wcclhj news of the 19th ult., in a report of a meeting of the Board of Education it was stated, speaking of Waitoa that " The local committee sent a letter, saying that they were dissatisfied with the half-time school arrangements and tendered their resignation." There may be a difference of opinion as to whether the said committee did right in resigning, but the reasons they gave for doing so, were that the Board established a second school in their district without consulting them, removed their former teachai without consulting them, appointed their present teacher without consulting them, and reduced the school at Morrinsville from a full-time to a half-time school without consulting them. The
members of the committe were expected by the Board, to act in conformity to the Education, Act and the Rules and Regulations of the Board, and yet the members of the Board when it suited their purpose could ignore the existence of the committee, as well the Education Act and their own rule and regulation. The committee thought what was sauce for the goose ought to have been sauce for the gander.
