RAG LAND. Frightful Accident.

A very serious and painful accident took place here ;ifc the residence of the Rev. Ch. Nuachekenberg, on the night of the •JOth June. It seems that an old native called Bihia, who has lived with the reverend gentleman for years, went out that evening with one of Mr SJinackenberg's .sons tj fetch in the cows. The bid found the cows, and on returning saw the old native lying down in a fit ; he immediately run and informed hi, mother, when both went and brought the old man iv and laid him on his bed, but it seems that during the night or towards, morning the poor fellow got up and went to the lire, which was burning in his house, and evidently had another fit, and tumbled with his head iv the fire, for when the good lady got up at d.iy -break next morning, and on going to .see how he was, she found him head first in the fire. Hhe acted the noble part, and with gre.it courage and strength pulled the poor man out (who is no lightweight), hiving no one else to assist her ; then she went across the river to the nearest native settlement to get assistance. The whole of the poor fellow's skull and cjesare roasted, and he now lies in a very procarious btate. To-day C?nd July) they say he is n, little better, but it is very doubtful if he will ever get over it. He must be over GO years old.
