TO THE EDITOR. 1 Sir, — In common with many others of the smaller contributes to the Borough Fun. I could not but express surprise when reading your leader yesterday in which we learn of the large amount expended in Hamilton through having your paper established here. If ratepayers in my position will only choose to think there cm be but one opinion of the set of men who are supposed to represent our interests in the Borough Council. The "retrenchmenfeome are pleased to prate about is but a shallow cloak for deeper designs, ; what they may be, it is clearly not for the interest of the community. By all means let us have a Public Meeting. I call upon every man living in the place from East to West to roll up, but I am sorry the Councillor who proposed calling the meeting and he who seconded (both trimmers to the breeze of public opinion) did not add to their proposal and "that as we " have been the prime movers secretly to " endeavour to inflict this injustice on ' ' an enterprise in our midst, and ably " assisted by our chairman, we at the " same time place our resignations to ' ' testify by accepting orreturning them to " usaccordingas you appreciate our action in this matter or not. — Yours &c, Burgess.
