TO THE RATEPAYERS OF THE CAMBRIDGE NORTH TOWNSHIP HIGHWAY DISTRICT.
Gentlemen, — You will see by advertisement that Wednesday, the 7th July, at 3 p.m., is the time fixed for the election of trustees for the ensuing- year. You are also aware that the rates have been nearly all expended in DukeBtreet for the last five years, while your interests have been entirely neglected ; many of us scarcely know how to get to our dwellings at all for mud and water, while Duke street people are gravelled to their doors. Fellow -ratepayers Wednesday, the 7th, is the time for you to assemble in force and let your voices be heard, and elect men that will look after your interests and see that the rates are honestly and fairly expended. I would call your attention to the present finances of the Board. Councillor Kirkwood admits £300 in dfibt, now I thick £500 will be much nearer the mark. This you will see for yourselves oji "Wednesday, if you have the moral courage to attend and hear the statement read. Remember these are the men you put into office to do your work. They have neglected to call a meeting of ratepayers, according to your request, ignoring your petition altogether; showing you they intend being masters not servants. These are the men that have declared your cattle shall be swept off the waste lands, and thus deprive you of your little income from that source. Now is your chance, attend the meeting, choose your men, ask a pledge from them that they will look after the North district and let us have a fair share of our money. There will be many important matters before the Board during the ensuing year. If you neglect to attend on tne 7th you will neglect your own interests, and remember the grand opportunity will be lost, and you will regret you did not attend and do your duty.— Yours, £c, Ratepayer.
