Boere, E^q., anfl report that the road at the railway crossing was likely to be damaged in consequence of the pipes laid by the contractor acioss the ro id being considerable above the level of the drains, and that the run of water had been cut off in consequence. Mr Samuel Teas sent in an application to the Board to carry out certain works adjacent to his propel ty, stating that for the last four years he had been bringing it to the notice of the Board, but that in every case the same reply had been given, that the Board from lack of funds had to defer entering upon the work. It was resolved that Mr Teas should be written to, informing him that the Board's engineer would meet him on Wednesday, the 9th inst.> and report upon the work. A lcttci from the Public Works Office, in reference to the closing and opening of roads on Mr Claude's property, with the Kecietaiy's replies to the Chairman's request to repori thereon, were received and discussed by the Board. From their voluminous nature a considerable amount of red-tapeism was apparent, as the correspondence has been carried on since December last. It was decided that aa^ the Board had done everything in connection therewith according to the Public Works Act, and as there was still sorrte hitch with the Department, it was r£ J solved to forward all the correspondence to the member for Waikato, and ask him to get the matter settled during his stay in Wellington. A letter from the Town Clerk, Hamilton, in reference to taking steps for the establishment of a hospital in the district, was read and ordered to be received ; but the Board did not feel disposed to take any .steps in the matter at present. Letter received from Mr Gilmour, Ngaruawahia, asking the Board to subscribe a mm of £5 towards reparing fence of cemetery in their district. Secretary to reply that the Board were unable to comply ftom lack of funds. In the matter of the ktter that had beeu forwarded to Captain Steele, requesting him to cit dou n gorse on the road between his property and that of Mr Seddon, it was decided that if not attended to by the 6th inst., termination of the notice, Mesvr-* Cochnine and Coates be empowered to employ labor, and get it done forthwith. Resolved that the Secretary should write to the Member for Waikato, asking him to endeavor to get a sum of £200 grant for completing the mam road fiom Hamilton to Taupati, and for the approaches to to thci'aihvay stition, especially iis through the deduction from the Waikato County Fund for hospitals, &c, it had so i eluced the Mim the Boai\.l]jhad anticipated as their share ; that at the present time they avcio considerably in debt, and had no prospect of being able to divole any fiom their funds for this purpo-r>.
