Cambridge Coursing Club.

The Puppy Stakes were run on Tuesday ou Ml 1 E. B. Walker's estate. Mr Garland officiated as judge, and Mi Hitchmau as slipper. There were eight entries, but only seven appeared to test their qualities, viz. : — Mr 8. Mornn's Mi->s Yes, Mr \V. Percival's Papapa and Polly Petchem, Mr Walker's Master, MiHewitt's Lord "Nelson and Duke of Wellington, and Mr Kirkwoods Blueskin. Papapa and Miss Yes were iirst leached, and hares soon found. Papa))a would not take t>i«lit, much to the shppor's vexation, several hares were lost in consequence. Miss Yes finally won. Polly Peachum and Duke of Wellington next appeared. Polly seemed to follow Papapa's suit, and did not work at all well. The race was all in favor of the Duke. Lord Nelson and Master followed, and although an awkward course for sighting his lordship triumphed. Blueskin ran a bye when Miss Yes and the Duke of Wellington were set going, and a grand race ensued — by far the best run ot the day. The Duke scored sevei*al points when the hare ran through a wire fence ; the Duke, however, took up the running to a gully, when Miss Yes got sight and turned the hare, which was ultimately lost. The Duke was awarded the honors. Lord Nelson and Blueskin started to what should have been a capital run but for a Maori dog that happened to ba near the line of run, who bounced upon and despatched the hare, much to the chagrin of everybody present. Several paddocks were afterwards beaten, but no hares could be found. The following is the result of the day's doings. Puppy stakes, — Winner, 8 soys. ; runner up, 2so vs. Entrance, £1. Miss Yes beat Papapa. Duke of Wellington beat Polly Peachum. Blueskin ran a bye. Lord Nelson beat Master. The concluding ties have yet to be run off.
