MANGAPIKO HIGHWAY DISTRICT.
The Trustees of the Mangapiko District met on Saturday last. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, also outward correspondence. The Correspondence received was lengthy, and was disposed of as follows : — The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr Hoskin, C.B. and request his early attention to the survey required, and to Mr Ormsry and inform him that the Board intended to complete the ford ; to Mr Germann and state that the Board cannot comply with his request ; to several applications for stopping roads, and inform the applicants that the Board will defer the closing of any more roads until those already on hand are disposed of ; to the Government re Heather's Creek boundary in terms of a draft laid before the Board and approved. Mr Macky proposed, and Mr Tisdall seconded, that notice be given of the intention oi the Board to strike a rate of one shilling in the £ at next meeting; Rate to be payable on the Ist of January, 1880. Mr Tisdall proposed and Mr Macky seconded, that the sale of lands of unknown owners for rates unpaid be proceeded with. .j~ The works anthorized/Vei'e fencing of the large embankment near Mr Seecombe's and a new culvert on the Te Rore road. Mr. Dillons tender for draining near McKinnon's farm was accepted at £3 14s Several accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
