These events commenced on Thursday, and resulted in some very good sport, though the attendance of the public was very limited. Time — lmin, 4secs. ELLERSLIE PLATE. Hilarous ... 1 Kenil worth 2 TimWhiffler 3 Won by two lengths and a-half. Time — lmin. 223ecs. HANDICAP HURDLE RACE. Grey Momus ... ... ... 1 Harkaway 2 Harold 3 Won by less than a length. Tune — 2mins. 24secs. AUTUMN HANDICAP. Yatapa 1 Libeller 2 King Quail 3 A protest lodged by Mr Walker against the winner for " crossing " was not sustained. NOVEL HANDICAP. Confident 1 Tuna 2 Barney 3 Won by a couple of lengths. The winner was bought in for £33. publicans' purse. Maid of Honor 1 Soukar 2 Hilarious 3 This brought the first day's events to a close.
