CABLE MESSAGES. [By Electric Telegraph.] Resignation of Conservative Ministry. Lord Hartington Sent For. Gladstone, Premier.
London, April 22. Eikl Beaconsfield's Ministry have tendered their resignations to the Queen. It is stated Her Majesty has accepted the same and summoned Lord Hartington to form a new Ministry, but he declined the task in favour of Mr Gladstone. Sir Charles Gavan Duffy, late Speaker of the Victorian Assembly, has been invited to stand for the Borough in the Home Rule interest.
April 22. Mr Montague Curry, Private Secretary to Beaconsfield when Prime Minister, has been raised to the Peerage.
