THE MINISTER FOR PUBLIC WORKS.
The hon. the Minister for Public Works will leave Auckland for Hamilton this morning, arriving at Hamilton a quarter of an hour after the mid-day train. Tomorrow' he will drive round the distiiet, proceeding on Monday to the Aroha and Ohinemuri, and next day, Tuesday, to the 'I haraes. There are several deputations anxious to wait upon him when here, and principal amongst these is the deputation appointed to urgo upon him the desirability of constructing the Cambridge branch line. The work is one of such extreme importance to a large and prosperous district that it might almost be imagined it would need little advocacy on the part of its promoters to secure the earnest attention of the Government. The goo-s carried to Cambridge and the produce grown within the district are sufficient guarantee of the paying character of the undertaking. The settlers have shown themselves worthy of consideration, for they have, at their own ex-pen-e, secured the services of competent engineers to lay off and provide the necessary estimates for two district lines, one of which at least should commend itself to the attention of Goverment.
