SOUTH AUCKLAND CATTLE BOARD.

TO THE EDITOR' Siv— lf I may be allowed I would respectfully suggest that two members of the above Board resign their places to be filled by one member from Raglan and one from the Thames Valley or Waitoa as there are many thousands of cattle in these districts and no one to represent them. I would also suggest that any resolution come to, by a full Board should not be recinded or altered by a quorum of (wo on the following day. I would also suggest that public meetings be called in the centres of population in each County to discuss this matter fully in all its bearings the result to be sent to the Board for their guidance, who should hold a meeting with the Auckland Cattle Board to adopt measures to work in unity for the public good, as it would be of little use the Waikato destroying its herds to be replaced next spring from an infected district. In the notice stopping the roads for one month dated the 12th of April I would most respectfully suggest to the Cattle Board that the following words be added. " That the above does not apply to Hag-lan or Waipa "West of the Furui Bail way or "VVaikato North of Man^awaro Creek." To stop roads in a perfectly clean district is likely to be resented by the inhabitants. Individual r ghts should be most sacredly respected, and do not let the Board issue an order to kill any man's cattle until they are in a position to compensate him for his loss for the public good ; and when such an order is issued see that no healthy beast is killed, as such a gross blunder would never be forgiven. The Piako Swamp Company may submit to havo their property destroyed but others will be found who will justly resent it. The public will be glad to know that one heifer of McNicol's that was condemned by Naden was killed this day in the presence of a large number of settlers and found perfectly clean. — I am &c. S. S.
