REWI'S HOUSE AT KIHIKIHI,

The work of building Rewi's hpuse at Kihikihi, the contract for which was let some time ago to Mr J. H. Mandeno, is proceeding rapidly. ■ The building, of which the following particulars will be interesting, is situated on an acre allotment nearly opposite the A.C. barracks* "The total length is 58ft., with a depth of 42ft., with a kitchen and laundry attached, 20ft. by 21ft. The timber employed is kauri and rimu for the frame, and kahikatea for the outside with, kauri shingles, the .. roof of the verandah being composed of curved corrugated iron. The bathroom and store- : closets are to be lined with wrought and ' matched heart of kauri, and the whole of the rooms will be "roughly lined ~with kahikatea and scrimmed and papered. The ceilings will be varnished. The contract price was £677, and at the present rate of progress will soon be finished, the time' allowed being 15 weeka.
