HAMILTON HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

A meeting of the trustees of the Hamilton Highway District Board was held on Saturday aternoon last at the offices of the Board, Waixato Times Buildings; at which Messrs S. Steele (chairman), W. Hunt, Raynes, and George Edgecumbe were present. The action of the District Engineer in commencing the expenditure of the £500 voted for the Hamilton and Whatawhata district was discussed, and it was resolved that a deputation should wait on the Minister for Works, Mr Oliver during his proposed visit to Waikato with the objectof representingtheinadvisability of expending money voted for the Hamilton- Whatawnata road on that portion at present intended, and for which work tenders are now invited. The seoretary was further instructed to telegraph at onco to the Public Works Department at Wellington asking thr.t acceptance of the tenders might be delayed until after the Board had an opportunity of explaining their views in the matter to the Minister for Public Works. The Secretary announced that he had received advice from the Treasurer that the sum of £109 19s 6d, subsidy for the halfyear ending 30th June 1880 had been placed to the credit of the Board. Several accounts were then passed and ordered to be paid, and the meeting closed.
