New Plymouth, Yesterday. Colonel Whitmobe, who arrived yesterday by the steamer, is inspecting the Armed Constabulary camps. About 100 men are employed on the road. At Parihaka good progress has been made with the work, upwards of a mile and a -half being ready for metalling, to Huinga. A native chief, that came from Chatham Islands, died at Omaero on Friday morning. A large number of natives have gone to the tangi.
