PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.

The annual meeting of the Council was held on Thursday last at Matamata, when there were present— Messrs. J. P. Campbell (in the chair), Cawkwell Williams, and Chapniell. The minutes haying been read and confirmed, the Council proceeded to appoint a chairman for the ensuing yeai % , when Mr Robert Fergusson was unanimously re-elected. On the motion of Mr Chepmell, seconded by Mr Williams, it was resolved to divide the Government subsidy between the Highway districts of Taotaoroa and Waitoa in proportion to the amount of the rates collected in each. It having been resolved to hold the next annual meeting of the Council on the 21st of March, 1881, the Council rose.
