We had a meeting of the ratepayers here a short time back to settle the site for the bridge over the Waipa, at Te Rore. As there was a reporter there from the Times I did not send you a report, the majority of those present were in favor of the Te Rore site, in fact, I may say almost all. On the evening of the 21&t, there was a meeting of the ratepayers to elect a new School Committee, the meeting .should have been held last month, but at that time there was not enough present to hold a meeting, in fact, I believe no one attended, and it had to be postponed and the present one was very thinly attended, as even all the parents of those children attending the school were not present, great apathy is shewn by many of those having children to educate in matters concerning the school. The following householders were elected : Messrs J.

Hodgson, .T. McGuirk, Henry Pholen, Henry Soutboe, J. H. Thompson, K. G. McMinn, I). Rollo. At a meeting of the Committee after the general meeting, it was decided to call for tenders to paint the outside of the school-house, and also to plough and harrow the school l-eserve a second time* It is now live or six weeks since we had any rain worth mentioning, and all the grass paddockb are looking very brown, in fact, everything in the vegetable line badly in want of rain except the crops of potatoes that are ready to dig. To-day has been intensely hot, finishing up at night with a thunder storm, the hottest day this season, I think. Harapepe, 25th Eel).
