NAPIER, Last Night.
XATIVE OUTRAGE. A messenger from Patea has arrived from Mr Ardy to inform Mr Moorhouse that the Wanganui natives have shot a number of his sheep, and threatened to burn dqwu his homestead at Murimutu. The natives under Kemp, the chief of the Wanganuites, and Topia, chief of the Taupo natives, are preparing for conflict. SEVERAL RUSHOLDERS ORDERED OFF. Mr Mills arrived in town on Saturday and reported to the police that Wanganui natives had shot a number of sheep at Murimotu belonging to Mr Moorehouse, and had threatened to burn down the homestead. He stated that the whole of the hwids had left the station, owing to
the threats made by natives, and that he was the last to leave. Murimotu is in the Wanganui Police District. No action therefore can be taken by Inspector Scully in the matter. Topia, the head chief of the Taupo natives, is at present at Napier.
