AUCKLAND, Last Night.
NARROW ESCAPE. A narrow escape from drowning occurred this morning. A man named Feltus foil off the wharf, and was bravely rescued by a seaman of the Penguin named Owens. The Star republishes part of leader in Waikato Times on rowdyism in the Hamilton Borough Council J. C. Firth has explained at a meeting of the Waste Lands Board certain remarks of Mr George Vcscy Stewart at a public meeting at Katikatik.
THE TE AROHA BLOCK. At a ra3eting of the Waste Lands Board this afternoon, the chairman explained that the delay in opening up land on deferred payment at Te Aroha was attributable to the absence of the Governor. The chairmra also recommended that the land at Waikoropuku shall be subdivided into small areas, the timber rights being sold by auction. It was resolved to sell the timber rights over half the block.
TUB RAPE CASE. The suspected Fijian is remanded for a week.
