WHATAWHATA. PUBLIC MEETING.
* public meeting was held yesterday afternoon at the Whatawhata Hotel, to take into consideration the construction of a bridge over the Waipa, and a road into Hamiltoo. Mr. Silmoa ia the chair. It wan on the proposition of Mr Corboy, seconded by Mr Day, decided to forward the following letter on the subject to the member for the district. Whatawbata, Feb. 18th, 1880. To F. A. Whitaker, Esq., M.H.R. Sir,- We the undersigned inhabitants of this district, which fully recognising and thanking you for what yon have done, beg to call your attention to the vote granted for a bridge over the Waipa river. The vote will lapse on the 31st Alarch next, and no contract has yet been advertised for, nor any actual work began. Will you take such steps as you think best to get the work began at once, as the season is far advanced for swamp work and road making. (Then follow 24 signatures.)
