WEST HAMILTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING.
A. rvLL meeting- of the Hanilton West ' Public. School Committee was held on Tuesday. Present — Messrs Gwynne (ohainnan), ONeill, KaOK, Prioe, McLernon,. > G • Edgftcumbo, and Yon Stunner. The Clerk brought before the meeting a letter from the Eduoation Board, noticing that Messrs John Logan CampbeU, David (xoldxe, Samuol Luke, and Frederiok Lambert Prime had been nominated to fill the three vacancies on the Board, and requestlag the Committee to fill in the three names for whom the School Committee would vote. t The vote of the Committee was given in favor of Messrs Campbell, Goldie, and Luke. • erhificates of first el-isi were granted to Wm. Andrews, Frede.ick Murray, Be<sie .Murray, and Lu->y Murray; and second cla-s certific ites to Elizi indrew, Frederick Divis, John Andrews, and Hobert Mirtio; Kite Divey, Bdwin D ivey, and Kate D ivis, for attendance at -chool. vttention was drawn to the f ict by the Cleric that a person, unconnected with the tommtttee, hud gone to the teacher on vlonday lust and asked the master to allow the children to attend a funeral that day. The lerk said that hiving hoard that this had be«»n done he had gone to the school and prevented any further action being taken. <he opinion of the Committee was un-iniraou-ly expressed inoen<ureof any outside interference calculated to damage the Hchool with mrent% but previous to taking further action it was unanimously resolved, on the motion of Mr O'Neill, seconded by Mr Price, " That the teacher be aa xed to furniih the p irticukrt of the alleged request for the attendance of the school ohildren at a funeral on Monday, the 1 6th inst.'* It was stated br the Clerk that the bell roqmred re hanging, as it turned ri*ht over, and had not been able to be used for several days, causing considerable irregu1 mty in the attendance at the opening of the school. r ccm o undertook to look after this matter and set it to rights at onoe.
