WAIPA AND RAGLAN ROAD. (OWN CORRESPONDENT).
Now that we have the fino weather, what a pity it is that something is not being done to clear away $ie laud slips that have fallen in the road ovei the mountain, thereby in borne places nearly blocking up the road. If these laud slips are uot removed, and the water tables cleared out before the next heavy raiu takes place, it will cost more pounds then to repair damages, than it will now shillings. There are also two culverts on the road, which a fow days work now would set to rights, but if left until the next heavy rain will in all probability, be takea away altoSethei, and thereby stop all traffic for vehicles between Raglan and Waikato. After so much has been spent in making this road, it is a pity to see it go to ruin for the want of a few pounds bein°- spent upon it at a proper time. Persons wishing to visit Raglan with trap or bu<?gy, need not be afraid of attempting the journey, as the road over the hill is at present passable and presents no difficulties to the most ordinary whip. '1 his last week two well known Hamilton gentlemen made the trip from Hamilton to Raglan, in a buggy, drawn by odo pony (but it must h-ive been a good one), leaving Hamilton just after breakfast, and arriving at the township of Raglan at 3 p.m. same day, including several stoppages, one of an hour and a half, to bait and dine at the Half Way IJotei If the road over the hill is only kept iv tolerable condition, for wheeled traffic, I feel sure that Raglan will become, ero long, a favorite watering place for tha
