KIRIKIRIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.
♦ ELECTION OF TRUSTEE. A meeting of the ratepayers of the Kirikiriroa Highway District was held yesterday afternoon, at the Royal Hotel, Hamilton East, for the election of a trustee, in the place of the late Mr Peter Walker. Mr A. Primrose, Chairman of the Board, read the notice, calling the meeting, from the "Waikato Times. The Chairman said he need scarcely say with what great regret he was there to preside on such an occasion. Mr dimming proposed Mr Henry. Mr Henry declined to stand, and proposd Mr W dimming. Mr Teas seconded Mr Heniy's nomination. Mr Cumming declined, as he had so many similar appointments. Mr Isaac Coates was proposed by Ciptain McPheraon. Mr "Willis seconded. The motion was carried unanimously, and Mr Coates was duly elected.
KEOULA.R MONTHLY MEETING. Present, the Chairman, Mr A. Primrose, aad Messrs. G-illett, Cochrane, and Lovell. The minutes of the preceding; meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from the Colonial Secretary, stating that the Acclimatisation Society had forwarded two petitions, asking that a close season for hares should be established, and asking the opinion of the Board. Mr Cochrane spoke against a close season. The Chairman spoke in the same spirit. Mr Gillett spoke in favor of making a close season for hares. Mr Gillett moved "That a reply be forwarded to the Colonial Secretary, asking that there be a olose season. Mr Lovell seconded. For the sake of sport, Mr Primrose said he would go in for a close season, and the motion wab accordingly carried Mr Teas entered a written protest against the road made round Mr Davis farm as not being done according to specifications, giving his reasons for the same. The writer also objected to Livingstone putting pipeclay instead of gravel on the Hokonui road. The letter was ordered to be referred to the Engineer for his report thereon. A letter was read from Mr Powell, drawing attention to the state of the beach road between Mr Tease and Mr Walker's farm, which was choked with gorze, alsOjtendering for the work on the Beach Road at the following rittes, namely: — Two chains formation, with ditch through fewarap £1 ; repairs of ctting over bridge and raising road, £2 ; timbci for four culverts, £4 ; 28 chains clearing and formation, 8s per chain. The Chairman said he had estimated the value of these works, and believed the prices asked were fair and reasonable. The works were certainly necessary. The Board passed a resolution, leaving the matter in the Chairmans hands to deal with the work to be done, under the supervision of the Engineer. Certain accounts wero passed.

There was little or no difference in the breed or ages of the sheep, but one lot had been on poor feed, and were low in condition, while the other lot had been well cared for. The buyer gave 1] per lb more f or tho wool off the welloonditianed sheep, and they cut noarly doublo the weight ; the cheques reooiveel by the the respective owners being- 018 and €44, ov a dift'erenrt—of i&G, and only 10 sheep.
