Tijb annual picnic iv connexion with the above school took place on Thursday, tho 29^h of January, the weather being 1 most deiip-htful. The scholars, with their teacherb and iiiend^, numbering about two hundred, turned out in high .spirits and holiday {rim., and wore conveyed in a largo number of traps, buggies, expresses, ar^d a coach (all kindly lent for the wcafsion), to. the residence of Mr Hugh Ferguson, who. generously placed a largo paddook at their disposal. The provisioni* ■v\ ere ample, and of the best description — sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, tea, gingerbeer, fruit of all descriptions, with strawberries and cream, were freely distributed round. During the day the children enjoyed themselves with* games of all descriptions — races, swings, roTinders, &c, tee., whilst the elder and more thoughtful ones amused themselves with kiss-in-the-ring and other sedate games. At 7 o'clock three cheers were given for Mr and Mrs Fergussqn, and the party returned to Cambridge having spent a most enjoyable day. 1 We must' not forget to the Cambridge band "were present, and after, partaking of Iwoheo^ weitf o,ver to an,othev school a short distance ofi,.
