HAMILTON CONCERT.

The Promenade Concert held last night in the gardens of the Hamilton Hotel, was the most succesif ul in all respects of the series. Fully three hundred persons were present, the croquet ground and surrounding walks being fnll of promenaders. The Hamilton Light Infantry Band was as heretofore the musical mainstay, and I of itself would on such a lovely evening and withilluminatedgardens have rendered the affair a success. The Choral Society also contributed to the general enjoyment, several of the choruses being very nicely executed. The solo and duet singing, however, seemed to take better with the audience, ;the first song " In the Gloaming," eliciting hearty applause, and well deserving the encore it received. Mr Meachaiu's fine voice was very effective in " ihe Death of Nelson,'* and "The Danube River" was given with the exquisitely cultivated voice and charming taste which characterise the singing of the lady who contributed her quota to the musical enjoyment of the evening. But perhaps the gem of the concert was the duet, "Flora and Zephyr," sang by two lady amateurs, whose well - trained voices blended together with a musical rythm that was in keeping with the poetry of the song. A sweetly sung solo was that of a young lady of tho "Sister Isle," who sang " Aileen Allanah " with great taste and feeling, The concert was conducted under the management of Mr T. A. Bell, and hence, doubtless, its success from a musical point of view, but where all did their best to please, and all acquitted themselves so well, it would be invidious to particularise, and we therefore leave our readers with the information that it is intended in the latter end of next month, or beginning of March, to hold another Promenade Concert in aid of the funds of the Hamilton Ladies' Benevolent Society. We should not omit to mention that the novelty of a very clever acrobatic performance was introduced into tho evening's amusement, the Pun and Frolic Company very kindly giving a gratuitous exhibition.
