POLICE COURT. HAMILTON.— Tuesday.

[Before H. W. Northcroft, Esq., X.M.] George Mason was charged with asaulting a boy named Alfred Keer, the said boy being under the age of 14 years. Mr Hay, solicitor, appeared for the defendant, and pleaded guilty. After a severe lecture from the Court, the defendant was fined 40s and costs, 14s. James W. K. Wood pleaded guilty to a breach of the Borough bye-laws by leaving his team of horses unattended o;i the public street. Fined 10s and costs. Foster Irwin pleaded guilty to being drunk at Whatawhata on the 26th ult. Fined 5s and costs, or in default 48 hours' ! imprisonment. The same defendant was also charged with disorderly conduct at the Whatawhata races, and to this charge he also pleaded guilty. In reply to the Court, Sergeant McGovern stated that the defendant was generally well conducted. . Two natives, Rangi and McLean, were summoned for drunkenness and disorderly conduct at Whatawhata on the 26th ult. They did not answer to the summonses, and warrants were granted for their apprehension. Tua Hotene pleaded guilty to maliciously breaking two panes of glass at Whatawhata on the 26th ult. Fined 20s and costs, £3 18s, and to pay for damages; in default, one montq'fi imprisonment.
