The Executive Council to-day declined to commute the sentence of death passed on Scott and Rogan, the bushrangers.
Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney are taking steps for the relief of the Irish distress.
A petition is being signed in favour of the commutation of sentence of death passed on Scott and Rogan, the Wantabadgery bushrangers. Execution of the prisoners is fixed for 20th inst.
The revenue of the colony for the lasquarter amounts to £311,000, being * decrease of £37,000 compared with last year. The total expenditure shows an increase of £13,000.
Melbourne, January 6. The total entries for the Australian i Cup are 37. There were 28 entries recieved in Melbourne for the Sydney Cup. The victuallers of Melbourne are organising an opposition to the new excise. At a meeting of the Anglican clergy in Melbourne a resolution was adopted depreciating interference by establishing 1 denominational schools till the general election.
