WARLIKE ACTION; DECIDED ON.
A MARCH ON PARIHAKA. The Herald of yesterday publishes the following important" news from its own correspondent at Wellington : — Great preporations are being mad c jointly for a decided step m regard to the Waimate Plains. By the end of the first week m January, the Government will have a force of fully .800 men m the district, and under the immediate direction of the Native Minister, who will b e there. They are to march on to the Plains, and to commence road-making^ If the natives offer any obstruction, the Constabulary will be marched right on to Parihaka. If no resistance is offered, the surveyors will be brought back, and resume {.work under armed protection, and special settlement siteß will immediately be laid out. The natives are said to be quite aware that some decided step is about to be taken, and are determined to resist it. Tne above information is reliable.
