LAST NIGHTS NEWS. AUCKLAND. A thunderstorm took place at 11 o'clock. The lightning- struck Maj or Withera's house, entering the kitchen window, and enveloping Mrs Withers in a blaze of light, but doing her no injury. It travelled along the gaspipe, bursting it, and breaking through the roof set it ablaze. Neighbors, however, soon extinguished the fire. I DUNEDDT. Arthuc Graves was charged with forging Archdeacon Edwards's name fco a promissory note- Prisoner arrived by the ship Hermione re cently, and preached at All Saints Church on Sunday week. His credentials are signed by the Bishop of Carlisle, but is said to have got into disgrace, and was prohibited from preachiug. He applied unauc. cessfully to the Archdeacon to endorse the promissory note ? and then used hfe signature.
