ALEXANDRA.
'December 13, 1879. As to the statement of the Star's Wellington Correspondent, " that return to TViwhiao will delay the railway from Turanalri to Waikafco," I do not see why they should be. so. The matter always rested in Tawhiao's hands. If Eevyi is in favor of it (?. ho will have the' opportunity to enforce his arguments on Tawhiao',B, and thus further the commencement of the proposed line, but unfortunately as yet there is no evidence on record that ever Uewi himself favored the proposal. News in the township is dull just now. as is usually the care before Christmas! The value of allotments, however- appears to be improving, Mr Assmuss, of the Exchange Hotel here, having lately purchased half-an-acre opposite Pinch's for the sum of £2OO. Mr Aubin.is altering and enlarging his store, and another large.store for some enterprising- stranger is about to be built. .since the above was written, news has come in that Eewi is very ill indeed at Kuiti, and'is not expected to recover ,4- j Own Correspondent.
