Railway contracts m coarse of construction m Canterbury amount to £700,000. Trial surveys have also been made of several other lines including one from Little River to the end of the present Akaroa lino contract to Akaroa township. Besides these works, there are several public braidings, amounting to a good many thousand pounds.
