Saturday. The Pivougia Minstrel Troupe gave a miscellaneous" entertainment m the Public Hall here last evening, for the benefit of the widow of one of our original settlers, and now unfortunately suffering 1 under a painful and incurable malady. Notwithstanding the uncertainty of the weather, there was a good attendance of the towns folk's and settlers, some fifteen pounds being realized, and which is gratefully acknowledged by the recipient. The performance itself gave great satisfaction to those present, the troupe having greatlyimproved since their first appearanoe here. Messrs Bolton and Lees, as corner men, -were remarkably good, and the actors m the farces were well up m their respective parts. The following programme was gone through :— « Plantation Walk Round," Lees and company "Laughing Song," Bolton; song " Kicked out from Home," Mantkelow ; song, " Send a Remittance from Home " Murphy; song, "Hen Convention'" Bayliss ; sonsr, " Cornelius Cob," Brindle; song, "Tight Shoes,". Simpson; song' " Mother would Comfort Me," Stewart' song, " A. Little More Cider," Bolton • song, " Little Brown Jug," Bayliss • sono-' " I Like to Walk Me Out," Mantkelow '; violin solo, Edwards; song, "Farewell Kitty/ Stewart. The farce, " Les Miserables," which caused great amusement, concluded the first part of the entertainment. After the interval Messrs Rata, Webere, Simpson, and Murphy distinguished themselves with a step dance, and after which Mr La.Barte gave one of his inimitable stump speeches ; Lees and Maptkelow a local song, which was a decided hit at more than one ; a hornpipe, by Greenwood, with the farce of a "Troublesom^ Servant " concluded a most pleasant evenings entertainment, each and all of the performers are deserving of great praise for their efforts m amusing the audience, and at tha same time materially assisting the afflicted. At the conclusion of the performance the forms were removed and dancing commenced by those who cared to remain, which, as usual with all Alexandra audiences, comprised nearly all those pvesouk
