We would draw the attention of Waikato 1 settlers generally to Mr McLernon's trade advertisement which appears m another column. We do not believe that out of large centres of population such as Auckland, there is to be found m the colony so handsomely and fully stocked a jeweller's and silversmith's shop as that of Mr" McLernon, of Hamilton. The wares displayed are good and elegant, and show an amount of taste m their selection which cannot fail to commend itself to the attention of our more wealthy and cultivated aottlers. The following telegram from Wellington published m yesterday's Herald refers tojthe deputation mentioned m our Saturday's issue: — "A deputation of officers commanding the Volunteer corps throughout the colony waited on the ActingUefenc Minister. They also i§^: pressed upon the Government the necessity of ordering out from home^at least two batteries Of 9-pounder^fi|ld guns for the artillery. They^ further prayed that free passages by train should be given to the Volunteers within their own 1 district when proceeding o' returning from properly authorised demonstrations.
