OPENING OF MR N. R. COX'S NEW STORE, HAMILTON.

The above building, at the corner of Victoria and Hood-streets, Hamilton, the i erection of which has been progressing during the last six months, is now completed, and, after passing the inspection of the architect, has been handed over to the possession of the proprietor. ' The build- ' ing is truly an example and lasting j memento of the energy and pluck of our I fellow townsmanj Mr JN...R. Cox, it being by far the largest store m the Waikato, and built of lasting and durable material. ( The store is 45ft. x 38ft. m clear, and 14ft. m height. In the centre of the shop is a well, baluatrated around, from which ia ; reached another large store, 38ft. x 25ft., I so that the whole together gives a vast amount of show space for every department of a general trade. The continuous sweep of pl*te-glass forming the corner ' of Victoria and Hood-streets, make a very handsome, and' extensive window show, ! and lit at night by the magnificent lamps and patent 'reflectors, which are now fixed, will form a brilliant and business-like scene to this part of the town. :; Visitors to. this store, by, walking through the place, may at once see 'what stock is m the bu lding, which is immense, and the public can be supplied with almost anything they may require, from the lowest to the highest priced article m either drapery, grocery, ironmongery, crockery, and we are informed at tho lowest remunerative prices. : The architect of the building is Mr . T. H. White, and the builder Mr John Thorpe, both of whom deserve great credit for the ability m design and mode of ; carrying out the work. The erection has I cost, with shop fittings, stabling and outI offices, about £1850.
