OPENING OF PARLIAMENT. We received the following, last night, per elect vi-.-. telegraph, from our special correspondent : — . Parliament was formally opened I hia afternoon, by commission, but no business was proceeded with, beyond the swearing m of the Members of the House of Representatives, and the election of v Speaker. On Thursday, His Excellency, the Governor, will deliver the speech which, it is said, will be almost identical* with that delivered by him at the or-ening of the late, session. Mr O'Rorke was gracefully re-chosen . as Speaker, Sir George Grey proposing, and Mr John HaU seconding his election. Messrs Atkinson and Reader Wood complimented Mr oNßorke0 N Rorke on liis appointment. There were over 70 members present, and they were then sworn m, the variety of new faces presenting quite a novel, feature. It is confidently asserted that tbe Government have a large majority on thoir policy, but will command only a small one m the event of a no-confidence motion being brought forward. As yet, howover, parties have not got into shape.
