THE OHINEMURI OUTRAGE.
YERDICT OF THE NATIVE COUjnCIL; [fBOM THE ' HEEALD'S ' CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Saturday. A Thames' Star 'pigeongram from Paeroa, this afternoon, states that the judgment of the native counqil was delivered at three p.m. to-day. The decision is to the effect that there must be no more shooting, on penalty of the offenders being handed over to the Supreme Court. The dispute between the Ngatikoe and Ngatihako tribes as to the ownership of the block of land on which the late outrage took place is to be tried in the Supreme Court. Immediately after the delivery of this judgment, Mr E. W. i'uekey demanded the surrendor of the would-be assassins, but the runauga declared they had not the power to hand them over. Nothing further can be done until fresh orders have been received from the Native Minister. Major Withers and Sub-Inspector Kenny are still at Paeroa, but they are powerless to act without further instructions.
