Sir, — Allow me .sufficient space to reply to Mr Bremner's yery lengthy epistle, which has neither sense nor reason m it. It is well seen that the stage of second childhoodiis f aat approaching on him, as he still hiMies me for what I know nothing about. Mr Bremner was quite aware that my resignation, as Postmaster, ■was sent m, and accepted, long before the 16th of August. As to the letter he refers to, about being sent by Mr Hay, Solicitor, I was giving him notice to attend the Court, on the Road Board account. By his non-attendance, the case was lost, and the district saddled with costs. This was before I was Postmaster, and has been a matter of dispute between him and Mr Hay. It is a vcy convenient way ho has of trying to shift the blame of carelessness from himself by blaming me, but his neighbours are getting used to that sort of thing, and it is losing its effect. AB regards his assertions about a deputy I am qnito prepared to do that myself, but if I had to got one like Mr Bremner I would scorn the action although ho did one? rank high as a scholastic flagUator.
