WAIPA ELECTION.

T3E R^IGL-VN MEETING. . Messrs Whitaker, Cunningham, and Rocho addressed a large meeting at Raglan. Their speeches were pretty much the same as formerly delivered by tho.se gentlemen. The only noticeable feature w*>s an explanation by Mr Rocbe, of the astion of the Te Awamutu aud Auckland Committees m reference to the ve-jpeotive candidatures of himself and Mr Cunningham. It appears that a joint committee, had been formed to determine

on their individual merits and had not been called together, but the matter had been summarily doterminted by a few persons. Mr .Roche was indignant, and seemed to meet Avith a good doul of sympathy. Mr Cunningham created a good deal of surprise, by stating that he was prepared to vote for taxing improvements. Mr Whitaker approved of the present liberal policy, and expressed his, determination to act m concert with the Auckland party, to obtain a fair share of the Publio Works expenditure. Eaoh, candidate received a vote of thanks. * At Whatawhata, last night, tho candidates spoke m a similar strain. Messrs Roche and Whitaker strongly condemned the idea of a Queen-street. Committee being allowed to dictate as to who should be the member for Waipa. It was for the electors to judge. Mr Whitaker further warned electors that the payment of public money for the Raglan and Waipa Road on the days respectively of the election of the Maori member and European member was contrary to real Liberalism, and would tend to destroy the right and privileges of the electors of Waipa. Mr Cunningham, m reply t® a question by Mr Day, stated his intention of going •to the poll. A vote of thanks was passed to each candidate.
