PIAKO POSTAL IRREGULARITIES.

■"i*. — Allow me to have a few parting words with Mr Harp, before he says good-bye. In regard to the irregularities to which I have referred, Mr Harp ia made to say, " Mlow me, Sir, to refute the whole of them." That is the very thing Mr Harp ought to do, if he can. Saying he will do it, and doing it, are too different things. I would remind him that, he has signally failed as yet. In his first epistle, he tried to prove Jthe first letter was lying m a neighbours house. He has now discovered that that was all a mistake on his part . He says, " I hardly like to tell a gentleman that he is not speaking the truth, but I can safely defy him to prove any of the facts." Here, instead of refuting (does he know the meaning of the word ?) ray assertions, he turns round and defies me to prove facts. I beg to inform Mr Harp that he ought to prove, if he oan, that my assertions are not true, instead of expecting mo to prove that they are true. However, as this is likely to be my last letter to Mr Harp on this subject, I shall condesoeml, m order to allow him every opportunity of refuting my assertions, to inform him that the first letter x referred to was written by W. Macgregor Hay, Esq., Solicitor, Hamilton, under date 14th June ; and 1 refer him to Messrs D. Bell and C. McDonald as to its being obtained out of his oflioe on the sth July As to the truth of my assertion m regard to letter No. 2, I refer him to Mr O. McDonald, who was m the Post Ofiice* with me both on the 28i;h June and 12th July, I refer him to the Editor of the Waikato Times ai the writer of letter No. 3, with the Hamilton postmark of the 10th July, and received by me on the 17th.

Mr Harp says, " with reference to Mr Bremner's assertion, that a letter posted at this Post Office was sent by mo to 1 Hamilton, and returned from theace with a fine docket attached to it. I would feel obliged to Mr Bremner if he would be good enough to give me the name of the gentleman who posted the letter m dispute before I leave the district, that I may have an opportunity of disproving his assertion, for m this instance I can safely say he does not speak the truth." I willingly oblige Mr Harp by giving the name of the gentleman. The gentleman. name is Mr McGlashan, Waitoa. On the receipt of Mr^McGlashan's letter I had occasion to write to him, and, m doing so I mentioned when I received his letter and a few days afterwards I had a' conversation with him as to where the letter had been. Now for Mr Harp refuting or disproving what I have said. As another instance of irregularity, I may mention that" I have this day received a book-parcel forwarded from the Waikato Times Office. . This parcel has on several places the Hamilton postmark of the 31st July, and yet it was only obtained out of our Post-office on the 16th August. I had been wondering at the non-arrival of this parcel as the Waikato Times people are so attentive to any business entrusted to thera. Thinking it just possible tljafc'"' my order might have been overlooked^ I, a few* days, wrote to the manager- to» remind him of my order. Judgo of has surprise when he receives my note. Mr Harp concludes his latter as foUows • — " I trust that my sucoessor will he able to satisfy his customers better than I did S I trust so too.' . If Mr Ham fails, as I think he will do, to refute or disprove my assertions, I would, m eoisclusion, and m return for his fatherly offer of correction, beg to give him a bit of tnendly advice, it is this ascheiv print even, although he obtains a deputy, who might be better employed, to write for him.— -I am, «Sfo,, Ai»ex. Bbemnkb. August 18th, 1879.
