HAMILTON PUBLIC HALL-
Sin, — Is it not time that something was dcwie, m the matter of the Public Hall ? It is now eight months since the bazaar was held, and yet nothing satisfactory has been achieved beyond obtaining a site m a side street. Could not the trustees obtain permission from the Government to dispose of the allotment m Knox-streefc, and acqxiire a freehold upon which to erect a Hall 'i which would enable them 'to negotiate a mortgage on the building. As to the site, would it not be practicable for the Borough to close that small street between the Hamilton. Hotel and Messrs. Saudes' property. T,he proposed Hall is eighty feet by forty feet, and this would' leave at least ten feet gangway on either side of the building. The want of a Hall is felt at the present time more than ever, now that the volunteers require a place m Avhich to drill twice a Aveek. The Government would surely supplement their £100 grant, now that wo have an Infantry Corps, and the men of the corps
would, no doubt, subscribe liberally. Surely, Sir, it is time that a Building Committee were appointed, to see to the carrying out of the erection of the building. — Pro Bono Publico.
