Sin,— l wish to give the particulars respecting the sheep condemned by the Inspector at my sale on Saturday, the oth instant. The sheep were bought by me at the Cambridge and Ohaupo saleyards, 182 at Cambridge, February 4th (Buckland's sale), and 50 at Ohaupo (Hunter's sale) , March 20th. About two mouths ago I saw the Inspector (Mr Runciman) at Newmarket. He advised me to dip the sheep for safety, which I did according to instructions from him. He told me to use 1 lb of Extract of Tobacco to 15 gallons of water, but I found directions on the tin contrary, which stated that the extract should be used at the rate of 2 lbs to 16 gallons of water, which directions I followed. After using these means, my sheep were condemned by him, the Inspector, on Saturday last. Can you inform me who should be at the trouble and expense of branding them with the S brand ?— A. Caldeb, Ngaruawahia, July 10th, 1879. [We cannot answer our correspondent's question, but the Inspector would doubtloss be well informed on the matter. Ed. W. T.]
