ILLNESS OF WAHANUT. Kihikihi, Saturday. Rewi stayed m Kihikihi a short time to-day. He has postponed his going to Aotearoa tiU the end of next Aveek, as he has a very had cold. The old man Avent and looked at the allotment Avhich was «riA-en him by the Government, accompanied by Mr Grace, the Government agent. He scorns very anxious to get hi s house up, as he says he is very fond of KUiikihi, and Avill make it his permanent I home. The allotment occupies one of the finest sites m tho township, aud, it being a comer one, is A r cry valuable
In conversation with Rewi . to-day,
about the Taranaki Maori prisoners, ' he said, " Well, Te Whiti is a prophet, and we (the Government and himself) wiU see whether he can release them, if nofc, he wiU be put m fckeir place."
Wahanui, the great Ngatimaniapoto chief, just having recovered from an illness, is now suffering from a severe attack of, brain fever, from which he is not likely to recover.
