PUBLIC AND VOLUNTEER HALL.
The Annual Meeting of Cambridge residents was held on Friday, 6th inst., to elect ,a Committee of Management for the Cambridge Public and Volunteer Hall, 9 and receive report and balance sheet for past year. * Mr Thomas Wells -wa3 voted to the chair, and having read the advertisement convening the meeting, called upon Mr Brooks to read the report and balance sheet, -which are as follows : — , REPOBT OP THE MANAGING COMMITTEE OP THE CAMBRIDGE PUBLIC HALL. It has been the desire of your Committee, during the past year, to make the hall a thoroughly useful building for all the purposes for which sunh a hall would be required, and they are happy to report that, although a sum of £75 has been expended m what may bo called permanent improvements, the Committee have adopted a tariff whioh they believe will compare favorably with that of any other hall of similar merits m a country district, and whilst the sums charged are considered as much as the occupants for the time being are able to pay, it would be unwise to reduce them further, seeing that the cost of lighting and attendance has been at the rate of 36 per cent on amount of rent rooeived. During the year, the anti-rooms have been enclosed, proscenium and other useful improvements erected, additional lamps provided, and stage scenery and curtains supplied, the cost of which has been defrayed by your committee, with the exception of artistic work of the scenery, whioh has been kindly and gratuitously performed by Mr J". 8,. Koesing, whoso valuable services your committee desire to acknowledge. CAMBBIDGE rUBLIC HALL COMMUTES. Treasurer's statement for the year ondiug 31st May, 187 ( J :—
